Description

The 050 121 113C thermostat controls coolant flow as the engine warms up. When the engine is cold, it stays closed and helps the engine reach operating temperature efficiently. Then, at approximately 87°C, it opens and allows coolant to circulate through the engine and radiator.

This thermostat supports stable engine temperature under normal driving conditions. It includes the required sealing O-ring for installation.

Why It Matters

The cooling system depends on correct coolant flow. A thermostat that sticks closed restricts circulation. Consequently, the engine can overheat and the heater may produce little or no warm air.

Conversely, a thermostat that sticks open lets coolant circulate too early. As a result, the engine may take longer to warm up or may not reach its intended operating temperature. This condition can affect heater performance and engine efficiency.

Replacing a faulty thermostat helps restore correct temperature control. It also supports reliable coolant circulation during daily operation.

Signs of Failure

Inspect the cooling system if you notice:

  • Engine overheating or an elevated temperature gauge reading.

  • Little or no warm air from the cabin heater.

  • Slow engine warm-up.

  • The engine temperature remains below its normal range.

  • Coolant residue around the thermostat housing.

  • A check-engine light related to coolant-temperature operation.

Key Features

  • OE Part Number: 050 121 113 C

  • Opening Temperature: 87°C

  • Function: Regulates coolant flow based on engine temperature.

  • Seal Included: Includes the required O-ring.

  • Fitment Type: Direct replacement for compatible cooling-system applications.

  • Service Purpose: Replaces a thermostat that sticks open, sticks closed, or operates inconsistently.

Service Notes

Always verify fitment by VIN before ordering. Start service only after the engine cools completely. Coolant loss occurs during thermostat replacement, so collect and replace fluid with the correct vehicle-specified coolant.

Compatibility

Always verify fitment by VIN before ordering.
