The oil pressure sender measures engine oil pressure and transmits the signal to both the cluster gauge and the ECU.
A quick way to test functionality: with the ignition on and the engine off, there should be no reading since no oil pressure is present. If a reading appears, the sender is faulty and should be replaced.
